L. ETHELWYN CARLYLE  1918 – 2008

Dare to do, and in doing, dare to be different!

Ethelwyn spent her entire life in Brant County, Ontario, Canada, most of it on the farm where she was born, and for over 50 years she painted the landscapes that surrounded her there and on her international travels, largely in watercolour and ink.  Upon her death she left a significant number of artworks in various styles and media, and this website exists to showcase her life and her work.  Check in regularly as we add material.  Most of the artworks shown are available for sale, with themes ranging from woodland landscapes to nautical themes to the construction of Highway 403. As you will see, Ethelwyn gloried in strong colours and definitive lines, and dared to do many things.  

Our newly added “Discount Deals” Gallery includes the work of Ethelwyn’s mother Margaret Wilson Carlyle (1884-1970) a china artist who painted in a more traditional style than her daughter.
